Entry Requirements

These guidelines are to support students in making realistic choices for their Sixth Form studies.

We advise that students considering Advanced Level courses will aim for 4 Advanced Subsidiary courses (AS) in Year 12. In Year 13 we would expect 3 A2 courses to complete their Advanced programme of study. For Level 2 students, one principal learning strand will be considered as a minimum.

To study Sixth Form courses at Hanham

we have the following entry requirements:

Our expectation is that all students who gain 5 ‘A*’s - C will study 4 AS levels. Some subjects will require a grade B at GCSE.
Students who gain 4 GCSE grades D-G would be eligible for Level 2 courses.
Students may also study a mixture of Level 2 courses with AS courses where appropriate. This may be discussed with the Director of Post-16 studies.

The Director of Sixth Form, Sixth Form Tutors, Subject Teachers and the Careers Advice Team in School will help support you in your choice of subjects. You will need to decide the right combination for your future Higher Education courses or career path.
