Physical EducationKey Stage 3 Pupils will be taught knowledge, skills and understanding through different areas of activity. These will include: Games activities: Rugby, Football, Hockey, Netball (girls only), Rounders, Cricket and Tennis. Athletic activities: Gymnastic activities and dance activities. Pupils will also follow a Health Related Exercise programme where they are taught how to prepare and recover from exercise and the effects exercise has on their bodies. Pupils will be taught to evaluate their own and others’ performances and learn to devise strategies for improvement. Key Stage 4 Core Physical Education for all pupils plus Sport Education, includes games, dance, gymnastic and athletic activities. They will also follow a Health Related Exercise programme and have the opportunity to go off-site for activities at a Leisure Centre. Pupils will also have the opportunity to follow a Sports Leaders 1 Course – a National Leadership qualification. GCSE (AQA) Physical Education includes a practical element and a theory element. The theory includes: Health & Fitness; Anatomy & Physiology; Psychology of Sport and contemporary issues.

![]() Posted 30th November 2009 in Physical Education Hanham vs Bristol City in Charity Dodgeball MatchOn the 5th of November a select group of year 7 pupils got the opportunity to take part in a game of dodgeball in order to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. What the students didn’t know was that they would be joined by three Bristol City first team players and their manager, Gary Johnson. Having assembled in the hall, the year 7s had the chance to take on Hanham High’s very own sports council in a warm-up game of dodgeball.
