MathematicsKey Stage 3 The Scheme of Work follows the National Framework for Mathematics at KS3. We have developed our teaching in line with this framework and hope to build on the success of the National Numeracy Strategy in primary schools. Lessons are typically 3-part. An oral/mental starter will lead to a main activity and finish with a plenary session. Pupils are tracked throughout KS3. We seek to identify any not reaching their potential and then provide support to enable them to progress. Key Stage 4 In general, all pupils take GCSE examinations in Mathematics. There are now two tiers of entry designed for differing abilities. Higher Tier candidates can be awarded grades A* to D; Foundation candidates can be awarded grades C to G. We have now introduced a modular course at GCSE which we hope will further involve pupils in their own progress and learning. Our first results for this GCSE were very encouraging with the vast majority of pupils achieving or exceeding their Target Grades. Post 16 We offer an AS/A Level in Mathematics comprising aspects of pure mathematics, statistics and mechanics. We also offer 'Further Mathematics' for students likely to study mathematics at University. Back to Top ![]() | ||||
